An intranet is a private computer network that uses Internet protocols, network connectivity to securely share part of an organization's information or operations with its employees. Sometimes the term refers only to the most visible service, the internal website.

Tissea has the resources to create and manage intranets. We use different technologies to develop them. The choice will depend on the platform you are using.

Why would you use an Intranet? Businesses usually use an intranet as a private and secured area within a defined geographicla area (i.e.: Office, building). It can be used as Content Management system to enable employees or users to post new articles/items with ease. It can also be used as Document Management system to scan, organise, manage documents within a company.

What is an Extranet? An extranet is by definition the opposite of Intranet. An example of an extranet can be found on this website on the right-hand side column with a login form. It is used for clients, partners to login into a private and secured area.

Intranet

It is quite important to consider 2 aspects in an Intranet. There is the environment and the actual software that the employees are going to use.

Tissea can provide you with a fully functional intranet including environment and software.

We can use Microsoft Server technology, paired with Microsoft SharePoint Server and Exchange for document sharing, forms and email management in one single location.

We could also set up other technology like a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/PERL) or a WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP/PERL) server. This option is the most cost-effective solution for small businesses, with Microsoft solutions for the larger company.
